Downtown Renaissance's 2nd Annual Fall Festival was held at Farm Pond on October 19-20. The event was free and included a chance to picnic, listen to live music, to kayak and canoe.

The Annual Pies on the Common event is a fundraiser for the First Parish of Framingham UU Church. It was held on October 19 at the Framingham Center Common.

    Camp DiCarlo, 65 acres on Merchants Row owned by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is home of the National Lancers. The organization is a volunteer troupe of Militia cavalry with a long and distinguished history. The Lancers were organized on October 31, 1836. While the ostensible reason to organize the National Lancers was as the governors mounted ceremonial escort, the Lancers were also charged with enforcing the law and defending the Commonwealth from invasion and insurrection. The units designation reflects its organization as light cavalry equipped and uniformed similarly to British and Polish lancers.

With over 175 years of service, the National Lancers of today hold the same values of its founders and continues its traditions. The Lancers have fought in two wars and carry 17 campaign streamers on its colors which attest to the duty, courage and honor of the units forbears. These ideals have been woven into the modern-day Lancer. The Lancers participate in dozens of parades, ceremonies and honor guard details every year.

NO to CVS at Concord and Hartford Streets

The above photo is very similar to the design proposed for Concord Street. This style may be more appropriate for shopping areas or highways than the neighborhood quality of Concord Street. The "box" effect is massive and over-scaled for the area. People in homes behind the proposed store will view what will appear as a 27' high wall extending across the property.

CVS store on Route 20 in Wayland. Unlike the "box" design proposed on Concord Street in Framingham, the design of the Wayland building is more thoughtful and sensitive. The columns, gables, dormers and many windows break up the overall mass which appears lower than it is. Why wasn't this design considered for Framingham?

Lynn English High School Junior, Danny Sullivan (not his true height), 
continues his 26-mile Marathon route through Framingham. 
Walking on stilts was his effort to raise money for the Shriners Children's 
Hospital in Boston. Danny Sullivan reached the 21-mile mark 
when the race was shut down because of the bombing at the finish line. 
Support and well wishes were emblazoned on his T-shirt by fellow Lynn students.
He is a fine example of young people with a social conscience.
He should be looked up to.
